How we work
About Reviews Unpacked
Reviews Unpacked reads UK owners' reviews and unpacks what they say, side by side with the maker's specs. We do not test the products ourselves.
What the site does
- Each post compares a few similar products, such as three tower fans.
- For each product, we read reviews from UK owners and note the points that come up again and again: what owners like, and what annoys them.
- We set those points beside the maker's specs, such as weight, size and power.
- Then we say which product we would buy, and who each one suits.
What the site does not do
- We do not test the products. Nothing here is a hands-on measurement.
- We do not copy owners' words or quote their star ratings. We describe what they report in our own words.
- Specs are the makers' own figures, not our measurements.
How a post is put together
- We choose a small group of products that do the same job.
- We read the reviews Amazon UK shows first for each product, and note what each owner reports.
- We check those reviews against the product's full spread of ratings, so one very happy or very angry owner does not set the tone.
- We count how many owners raise each point and say so, for example "five of the nine", not "everyone".
- "Very happy" means the owner gave five stars. The dots on each product show how many of the owners we read were very happy.
- Each post ends with a section on how it was put together, including how many reviews we read.
Prices
Prices are the Amazon UK price on the day a post was written. They change often, so check the live price before you buy.
How the site earns money
- This site earns money through affiliate links.
- As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- If you buy through a link here, the price you pay does not change.
- Every post with affiliate links says so at the top, with "Ad:".
